Colin Patrick Fish was born on February 21, 2008. He is the son of DJ and Rebecca. From birth, Colin was small, but continued to grow at a slow but regular pace. Around six months old, his growth started to level. This symptom, coupled with his first cold, concerned the doctors.

Colin was admitted to the hospital at the end of August 2008. During his stay, he became a favorite of the doctors, nurses and therapists. He was the happiest patient, never appearing to be in pain; however, his symptoms would not improve. Shortly after being discharged from the hospital, Colin was tested for Cystic Fibrosis. The results were positive.

Since starting the necessary treatments for CF (enzymes, breathing treatments, chest physical therapy), Colin has begun to gain weight, has more energy to play and is developing right on schedule. While having to live with CF is going to be a daily and lifelong struggle, the treatments that have developed have greatly improved Colin's life.

Since being diagnosed with CF, Colin's daily routine has changed a bit. With every meal, Colin takes enzymes to help him digest his food. His parents administer breathing treatments through a nebulizer that help to open up his airways and strengthen his lungs. They also do "Chest PT" which involves tapping on his chest and back to break up the mucus in his lungs. Colin has recently started using a "Smart Vest' for his Chest PT which uses a generator to send vibrations to his chest to help break up the mucus even more than manual tapping.

Colin is now eighteen months old, has well beyond the the 50th percentile for his weight, has caught up to the averages for his developmental skills, and is doing wonderful thanks to the excellent care he receives.
